Thank you Le Puy Camino ❤️

What a charming experience it has been walking through the SW French countryside, staying in quaint, picturesque villages, and interacting with French people. We have finished our walk in Figeac (pictured above), a mid evil town with a section of the city blocked off to cars and a wonderful walking tour through it.

On the final day we moved from the Aveyron region into the Le Lot region. It was a hard last day (for me), rising 2300 feet and walking nearly 18 miles. But also an amazing day of seeing beautiful sights, running into pilgrims we’d met earlier in the walk, and seeing long range views of the deep valleys and surrounding hills (it had been cloudy & foggy the previous two days with limited views).

It was also a day of bringing closure to this 2 week journey into what it feels like to be a “pilgrim” on the French Le Puy Camino.

One of so many small churches we pass through on the Camino route daily. This one had mid evil paintings inside.
The Camino has a lot of big churches on the route too! (Figeac) As I’ve probably mentioned in other posts I love to do my daily meditation in the cool, quiet of churches we visit.
Le Lot countryside
I ran into that “roping” man again!
Rose hips?
There were limited villages with food for walkers on the Camino on today’s route so this temporary food stop was set up by a young entrepreneur. We had quiche and Orangina’s to drink.
Goodbye Camino!

  2. Thank you for these wonderful pictures and your thoughts along your journey. I love reading your posts as I drink my coffee before starting my day. I am into the last first week of school I will ever have! 🥰

    1. It’s a sweet picture of u reading our blogs over morning coffee and ESPECIALLY last first week of school! Enjoy Ginny! We are in Paris now and loving it so far. And you’ve been here twice in recent years!

Loved reading and seeing your journey with you Karen. Thanks for taking the time to share your reflections and amazing photos. You did indeed seem to have some tough days! Glad you could do this with your ‘roping’ (?) man! See you in the ‘hood soon.

  4. Merci de nous emmener dans votre merveilleux voyage, avec vos belles photos et votre prose! I have especially fond memories of France from 1978, when I spent over 3 months studying in Paris and traveling around the country. SW France was a favorite place. And I love LePuy lentils! I hope you and Steven are enjoying Paris too. I’ve looked forward to your posts to read with my cup of tea as I start my day. See you relatively soon, ma cher amie!

    1. Those were such valuable and impressionable times for us back in the late 70’s, weren’t they! I took my first trip abroad in 1979 (Nepal) and it will always hold a special place in my heart, I think quite possibly because of the time in my life it took place. You were probably 21 and I was 22.
Yes SW France is beautiful and quaint and mid evil, I I definitely ate lentils on the walk. See u in 3 weeks!

  5. Karen, it has been so much fun to read your blog posts, and to see photos. Where but in France would you find a food stand in the country serving quiche? Here you would be lucky to get a sandwich. Was Steven skipping rope? As if he didn’t get enough exercise walking!
Looking forward to seeing you sometime after your return to Portland.

  6. Congratulations to you and Steven!!!
Thank you for sharing your wonderful photos and special moments along the way🩷 🩷
    Enjoy Paris!

  7. It looks so beautiful there in Figeac! Thank you for sharing this part of the Camino. Now get some well-deserved rest!
