Part 2 of family Camino walk

Day 5 of our 10 day Camino walk was a luxurious rest day in Pamplona. The town was gearing up for the world famous Running With The Bulls extravaganza, starting two days after we departed. We had our own little encounter with bulls as seen above and below. We didn’t want to completely miss out on the fun!

Couldn’t get enough of it!

Part of our rest day included massages at Ultreia (recommended), eating delicious food, enjoying cafe culture, touring the massive cathedral “campus”, and walking through the crowded, wild and crazy bar scene.

Spain heated up for our final 5 days of walking after leaving Pamplona. Daily temperatures reached 100 degrees so we did our best to finish walking by noon when temperatures hit about 90. The upside to the heat is that it gave us the opportunity to experience walking in darkness out of towns and witnessing dawn and sunrise across the Spanish landscape.

It was interesting to walk a Camino this time of year as it was noticeably less populated with walkers. Finding open cafes became unpredictable so we carried our own food to address that. Liam offered up his excellent chef skills!

We also eventually found plenty to eat!

Basque pintxos

Unlike standard Spanish tapas, which are often small plates, pintxos typically feature an assortment of ingredients (like seafood, cheese, or cured meats) skewered to a slice of baguette with a toothpick.

Love your post, observations, photos, food enjoyment, Liam’s quotes (!) and of course the running of the bulls photos…. Just like the real thing, I’m sure! Can’t wait to catch up back in the hood.

    Buen Camino!

  3. What a wonderful family camino! I can’t imagine walking in 100 degree heat…
Love the running with the bulls photos, but what is with the shirts??
