Thank goodness for Google Translate! Not much English is spoken on this route as most of the camino walkers are French. Last year on the Spanish Frances’ walk there were so many international walkers that the predominant language spoken was English.
I realize the privilege I’ve had as an English speaker in most of the places I’ve traveled to as English truly is the most internationally used language. Fortunately French people have been kind and gracious regarding language except for one very grumpy bartender!
Since it is the European holiday month of August there are many families on the Camino.
There are also horses
And “ropers” (Steven’s new hobby)
And cows
And bees on flowers
And churches on hills
(It must have been hard for children, the elderly, and physically disadvantaged, to go to worship!!)

Day 2 – St Privat d’Allier to Saugues – 13 miles & 2400 uphill feet.

Day 3 – Saugues to Les Faux – 18 miles & 2200 ft.

Day 4 – Ley Faux to Saint Alban sur Limagnole – 4 miles (more like a rest day)

After 3 very hard days of walking, for me, it was a gift to stay at the lovely L’Oustal de Parent Hotel in Les Faux with its warm, comfortable bar and delicious dinner. Since we only had 4 miles of walking today we had a leisurely breakfast there (best croissant & berry jam ever!) and relaxed at our B & B upon arrival in Limagnole.
