I’m doing a roadtrip with my husband Steven. We are carrying 4 bikes and camping gear in a small trailer from Portland Oregon to Bar Harbor Maine so that Steven, and our good friends, Kathy, and Tom, can ride their bikes across the country. I will join them for the first 3 days of riding and the last 3 weeks.
They are taking 70 days for the ride and Liam, our eldest daughter Lily’s significant other, will drive the support vehicle. After 3 days of riding in Maine I’ll say goodbye to Steven and the group for two months and first visit my very good friend Carla in Portland and then head to Portugal to have a solo adventure walking the Porto to Santiago coastal Camino route. It is 173 miles and I’ll be in Europe for 3 weeks.
I’ll then fly home to Portland Oregon and hang out with Lily for a month, after which I will join the trans American bikers in Great Falls Montana.
It’s going to be a BIG summer!
This is the second time I’ve driven from coast to coast. The first was in 1990 when I was 7 months pregnant with Lily. I drove with Jan, my sister, and June, our 62 year old mother. The purpose of this trip was for mom and daughters to spend time together and to visit that same dear friend Carla and her new baby Becca, just outside of – yes! – Bar Harbor!
