Visiting Jake & Hannah

We made it to Haverford Pennsylvania on day 12 and stayed with our nephew Jake and his wife Hannah and their 3 children Joseph, Peter, and Sarah for two nights. They had just gotten the keys to their new home the day before we arrived! They still welcomed us with open arms, had the kitchen unpacked and beds set up. Their home is large and beautiful and their intention is to create a space for friends and family to gather. They are both critical thinkers and value living an examined life. They are open to new thoughts and ideas although they have also committed to the path of Orthodoxy. Jake and I took a 7 mile walk together, which was a highlight.

We then drove 6 hours north to spend 1.5 days with our niece Jessica and her husband Ryan. Jessica is radiant at 30 weeks pregnant and the couple will soon be relocating to Haverford PA to join Jessica’s sibling Jake/family and a group of good friends to raise their families together. I have to admire what they are creating in terms of a supportive community. They too have committed to Orthodoxy but with their own, well thought out relationship to it. Steven and I appreciated their openness and candor in response to our questions.
