Photo: I started meditating regularly about a year and a half ago and I often go into churches on the Camino to do just that. I love their cool, dank feel. They smell like they are centuries old, although it’s not unpleasant.
The day started out cloudy and then misty and humid. I spent much of the walk with Petra, a German born woman that has lived and worked at a university in England for 20 years. This is the second time I’ve seen Petra. While at a restaurant in Viladesuso she approached me and asked if I wanted dinner company and I happily said yes!
We talked a lot about our families of origin as we walked. Petra shared that she has had to stop communication with her parents because they treat her so cruelly. She is on the camino because she wants to learn how to “be here now” as fully as possible.
Buen Camino Petra. Thanks for sharing with me.
